Group Tax Manager


The Position

This is a newly created and crucial role within the business and one that will allow for future career opportunities and development within a large multinational, complex business environment (Oil and Gas Services and Technology).

Reporting to the Financial Controller and working alongside an impressive group of finance and commercial professionals within the business, you will be responsible for providing a broad range of taxation functions and technical tax advice. You will work closely with other members in the Group with a collaborative approach to achieving outcomes across the business.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Accountable for the Group Taxation Function (Australian and International) ensuring compliance obligations are completed in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Manage the preparation of the Income Tax, and other indirect taxes such as but not limited to FBT, GST, VAT, Payroll Tax and other applicable international taxes and statutory tax returns;
  • Manage the Group Transfer Pricing requirements;
  • Liaise with the external tax advisors, Australian and international tax authorities and other regulatory bodies when required;
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits if and when they arise;
  • Develop and implement strategic tax planning for the Group;
  • Develop and update the Group’s tax policies;
  • Mitigate tax risks to the Group;
  • Manage the Group R&D Tax Incentive claims in accordance with the requirements of regulators such as AusIndustry and the ATO.
  • Manage the preparation of tax effect accounting for the Group statutory accounts;
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to Financial Controller and Management, including mentoring and training of finance team with changes in applicable tax legislation;
  • Provision of technical tax advice and tax due diligence to the wider business including but not limited to Australian and International Withholding Tax requirements and sound understanding of Double Tax Agreements;
  • Adhoc support/projects to Finance and Commercial teams that may be assigned from time to time;
  • Comply with the Company’s HSE regulations and policy; and
  • Cooperate with supervisory and management personnel to ensure the Company’s safety responsibilities are fulfilled

Skills and Experience:

  • CA or equivalent qualification;
  • Proven track record in a specialist tax role with at least 4+ years’ experience;
  • Ideally from Big 4 or leading second tier firm making their move into industry;
  • High energy levels with a collaborative approach to achieving outcomes;
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, this includes communicating tax concepts in an easy to understand/practical manner;
  • Good understanding of International Accounting Standards and Principles;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills; and
  • Medium to Advanced excel skills
