This year has been extremely challenging for all parents but Dr Mike is here to help! We’re thrilled to introduce you to DUG’s resident mathematician, Dr Mike Hartley, who has been inspiring kids with fun math and numbers games via his own website: Dr Mike’s Math Games For Kids. Visit his website and you’ll find all the inspiration you need with endless, free, printable, math games for kids that are fun and educational!

What’s more, perfectly-timed to save families at their wits-end trying to find activities for their children, Mike has developed his very own time’s table board game for purchase. 

In the year’s before joining DUG as our R&D mathematician, Mike taught in a British university in Malaysia, and in his spare time curated his website full of maths games for primary school aged kids. The site has over 100 free games and other resources to help parents instil a love of maths in their kids. “I’ve always been passionate about mathematics,” Mike said. “It’s such a fascinating world to explore. Part of the reason I started the site is so more people would have the chance to experience that world.”

At the start of 2020, Mike ran a successful Kickstarter campaign, to launch a professionally printed version of one of his games – a times tables board game. “It’s something I’ve had in mind to do for a long time,” he said. “The times tables board game is available free on my site, but involves a lot of cutting and pasting. I wanted to make a beautiful product that people could just buy and play, without fiddling too much with glue and scissors.”
