DUG joins AusBiotech 2022 Conference Programme

The AusBiotech 2022, Australia’s largest life sciences conference, opens on 26 October at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. The meeting aims to breathe new life into the biotech industry after two years of disruption and change, reconnecting and recharging the biotech community to ignite what’s next.

We’re excited to be part of the conference—be sure to come and see us at Stand 20! #TeamDUG will be on hand each day from 26–28 October to answer your questions, introduce you to our innovative high performance computing (HPC) solutions, or schedule a private meeting.

We’re also proud to be part of the AusBiotech 2022 Conference Programme, highlighting the pressing and emerging topics facing our Australian biotech sector. Our Chief Commercial Officer Colin La Galia and Chief Information Officer Dr Stuart Midgley will participate in two panel sessions as part of the programme line-up. Details below.

Extract maximum value from your data with high performance computing

Abstract:
The biotech and medtech industries are growing at an unprecedented rate. With mountains of data being churned out as the industry innovates, researchers, scientists and the industry are increasingly turning to HPC to analyse that data, extract life-changing insights from it and make data-driven decisions moving forward.

However, with a plethora of workflows and software packages and an urgent need to scale-up biotech processes, combined with a lack of HPC expertise in the industry, the HPC journey is often bumpy. In this regard, it’s not uncommon for many in the biotech field to find little or no support from traditional HPC facilities, which have conventionally targeted physicists, chemists and engineers.

This keynote will discuss state-of-the-art biotech using HPC, and how the HPC industry is evolving to meet the needs of the biotech and medtech community. You’ll also learn about ways to gain access to support, and knowledge powered by HPC, as well as some case studies of the successful integration of HPC into the biotech industry to accelerate the translation and commercialisation of research and IP assets.

Chair: Dr Stuart Midgley, Chief Information Officer, DUG Technology Australia

Panel

  • Sarada Lee, Co-founder, Perth Machine Learning Group
  • Sam Buckberry, Bioinformatician, Telethon Kids Institute

Date: Thursday, 27 October

Time: 4.15pm–5.00pm

Location: River View Room 4, Concurrent Session 8B
