It was an eye-opening journey for some of our geoscientists from DownUnder GeoSolutions who took a field trip to the Northern Territory to view core obtained from one of the oldest basins in Australia. These rocks are Precambrian in age: that is close to 1.6 Billion years old! These cores were preserved in the Northern Territory Geological Survey core facilities where the bunch of rock sniffers had a great hands-on experience with the rocks with the lead of Rex Butler, our principal Pore Pressure Analyst and Bill Fraser, Geologist from WJ Fraser & Associates.
The excursion was a fruitful one, leading us to a better understanding of unconventional reservoirs and to help to unlock new discoveries in the future.
