Team DUG helps Houston’s recovery

Few of us are unaware of the devastation left by Hurricane Harvey, after it ripped through Texas in August 25-29, 2017. The region is still feeling the traumatic affects after more than 210,000 homes were damaged or destroyed, leaving more than 34,500 people living in shelters.

The oil & gas community so synonymous with the region didn’t let the locals down, putting on a variety of fundraisers and offering volunteer groups to help where possible.

DUG and Silverthorne Seismic, LLC got together to do their bit by hosting a night of ‘great music and brews’ at Eureka Heights Brewery in the Heights, Houston benefitting Habitat for Humanity, a local organisation whose mission is to ‘…bring people together to build homes, communities and hope’.

“We wanted to put a spotlight on the incredible aid Habitat for Humanity has carried out in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. From providing cleanup supplies, armies of volunteers for repairs, to placing flood refugees in temporary housing” Bill Thomas, BDM Houston, explained.

Singer Pat Byrne, 2012 winner of the first series of The Voice of Ireland, entertained the crowd with his unique voice born from a Cocker, Springsteen & Dylan mashup. The band rocked for three sets, covering Elvis to Van Morrison, and a slew of originals.

The event raised US$32,450, which the organisation will earmark for completing repairs to affected homeowners.
