This week, a group of 36 undergraduate students from University Technology Petronas (UTP) visited the DUG office in Kuala Lumpur.
The UTP students gained valuable insights into geoscience, how DUG works, and what we do. Regional Geoscience manager, Gunaseelan Cumaran, gave students an introduction to DUG, with a short talk on the fundamentals of seismic acquisition and processing.
Among the highlights of the visit for the students were an interactive Q&A session, and the opportunity to get hands-on with Processing and QI work with a geophysicist.
No visit to DUG is complete without seeing one of DUG’s supercomputers. Our KL office is home Bodhi, part of the DUG McCloud supercomputer network. With an impressive 13 petaflops of compute, Bodhi is one of the fastest supercomputers in Asia.
Overall, UTP’s undergraduate students enjoyed their visit, with several expressing a strong interest to apply to work with DUG in the future.
